FROM OLD TO NEW LIFE
I HAVE BEEN WORKING FOR THE PAST FEW DAYS ON GIVING A NEW LIFE TO A PAIR OF OLD DRESSER DRAWERS THAT MY BROTHERS USE TO HAVE IN THEIR ROOM SOME 55 YEARS AGO. THEY SERVED THEM WELL FOR ALMOST 10 YEARS AND THEN MY CHILDREN AQUIRED THEM FOR MANY YEARS. BELIEVING IN RECYCLE THEY MOVED ON TO GRANDCHILDREN SOME 15 YEARS AGO AND THEN THE TWINS USED THEM FOR A FEW YEARS. SO AS YOU CAN SEE THEY HAVE HISTORY. WELL, I WAS NOT READY TO PUT THEM INTO RETIREMENT WITHOUT A FIGHT SO I SANDED THEM DOWN , GAVE THEM A LOVELY NEW COAT OF STAIN AND A COAT OF VARNISH. NOT STOPING THERE I POLISHED THE HARDWARE AND REPLACED THE MISSING HANDLE AND THIS IS THE FINAL CHAPTER IN THEIR LIVES. THEY WILL RETIRE ALONG WITH US TO OUR HOME IN FLORIDA A SIDE TABLES IN OUR BEDROOM FOR THE REMAINDER OF THERE LIVES.( UNLESS SOMEONE ELSE SEES A FLICKER OF LIFE IN THEM IN THE NEXT 15 YEARS AND REVIVES THEM AGAIN, POOR THINGS, THEY MAY NEVER FAD FROM USE). THERE IS SOMETHING TO BE SAID FOR THE GOOD OLD, WELL BUILD FURNITURE FROM THE 50'S.

They are lovely and I agree with you about older furniture. I prefer it very much over the new stuffl. Blessings.
ReplyDeletethese look even better in this light. I think they look better than when Deb and I used them!
